“Alone.

Alone is good.

Loneliness brings a special aroma to tranquil happiness. It is the time when I express and, simultaneously, accept my true self.

Silent, clear and loud at the same time.

Alone is good.”

John rose from the bench at the park, but didn’t move for a minute. He stood there staring right at the corona of the setting sun.

“A day is passing. Like every time, this was also anew at the beginning.  As time ticked, the novelty faded away with it. Till this point in time, I saw only what I always see. I heard the same things I used to hear. I felt the same insanity and indignity as always. There was nothing new today.” He thought.

He turned and started walking towards the gate. The stone paved walkway with music playing in small speakers hidden at the bottom of the pillars. Was that a Mozart? He remembered the days when he used to come here with his father, mother and sister. The park was wonderful in those days. Every single thing he saw here seemed lively as though waiting to be touched by him. Though there were sign boards saying not to touch the flowers, he used to pat them and talk to them in whisper. His sister loved to swing. They used to explore everything around with joy and selflessness. Now, they had grown up and things turned complicated.

At the gate, there was a guard standing. Stepping out to the main road, John nodded at him with a light smile.  The moment he stepped out of the gate, scene changed. He was at the middle of a crowd, walking their way more, than his own.  Carried away by the people around him, like a kite in tornado.

John stopped. All of a sudden. Deliberately. His feet firm on the ground. People started falling hitting his back.

“Get away!”, some cried.

He now started moving slowly. He had enjoyed the moment. Although for a moment, his decision was executed. He was the master of himself! Suddenly, he was pushed off the crowd and he fell on the slanding wall of the building to his right.

He is alone now. Despised and thrown away.

“Alone is good”, said he.
